Fusion Development Group has officially broken ground on an iPhone Game entitled “Hexile”.  Our intent is to produce a “for-all-users” casual game that employs both strategic thinking and mindless number tapping (but not at the same time).  Number-based strategic games satisfy a certain part of our brain, but we strive to strike a balance by providing ample opportunity to play quickly with minimal thought.  Yes, it sounds confusing, but there’s some real thought behind it.

Hexile’s core concept is to provide players with a series of numbers that they can play in any numerical order (up or down).  This was a simple counting gameplay style from the likes of solitaire, egyptian rat screw, and “higher or lower” (from the 80’s game show Card Sharks).  The object of the game is to (like most casual games) clear the board of these numbers.

The catch here is that there is a pre-determined numerical layout, and if you make the wrong move you may not be able to complete the level.  For instance, if you have the numbers 1-2-2-3-3 in front of you, you could win by tapping 1-2-3-2-3 or 3-2-1-2-1, BUT playing 2-1-2-3-? will lose the level.  The reason?  You cannot tap the same number twice (only up or down one).  With this approach, Hexile encourages players to think in small clusters of 5 to 7 numbers to try and figure out the correct winning path.  Incidentally, this is how our brain remembers numbers.  More more information, check out the wikipedia article on the Magical Number Seven (cognitive numeric limits).

Hexile will compound upon simple casual gaming concepts by providing unlockables and a story line.  Special powerups themed to the game will be accessible after beating certain parts of the game.

By providing two different styles of gameplay (quick and casual, strategic and immersive), Hexile will be a go-to game for all occasions and gamers.
